Dreams and Great Compassion

Kawasaki Academic Foundation was established with the spirits to nurture medical professionals who always have dreams and hopes, and who are equipped with hearts of compassion and kindness.
When you talk about "dream", it is important to think not only from their own perspective, but also from the perspective of others.

Philosophy of Education

Fostering Knowledge and Humanity

Izumi University is an educational institution founded on the philosophy of “Fostering Knowledge and Humanity.”
Through the cultivation of a benevolent spirit alongside advanced specialized knowledge and skills, the University aims to foster individuals with rich humanity and culture, and to nurture professionals who can contribute to the advancement of health, medical care, and welfare in local, national, and international communities.

In traditional models of medical care, primary emphasis has been placed on the treatment of disease.
In recent years, however, greater importance has been given to disease prevention and to the provision of psychological care throughout the rehabilitation process, beginning at the onset of illness or injury. Preventing various types of disabilities—not only those resulting from surgery or accidents—and minimizing physical and mental functional impairments contribute significantly to improving quality of life.
Within this framework, rehabilitation plays an increasingly vital role by reducing the overall burden on patients and their families, supporting return to work, and enhancing daily living.

Accordingly, PTs (Physical Therapists), OTs (Occupational Therapists), and STs (Speech-Language-Hearing Therapists) are required to acquire advanced, high-quality professional skills and to play active roles in the medical field.
Izumi University offers a curriculum grounded in practical clinical experience and distinctive to the University, with the aim of developing healthcare professionals who not only possess solid knowledge and skills but also give careful consideration to each patient's functional abilities and mental well-being.

In addition, the University educates HPs (Course of Health Promotion), or “health promotion professionals,” who work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders—including government agencies, rehabilitation facilities, and health-related organizations and companies—to help realize a healthy and prosperous society.
